During this webinar, Professor Robert Newton, Ph.D. will present an overview on the effects of Exercise is Medicine on patients with oncological problems. He will then move into the effects of exercise for breast, colorectal, and prostate cancer, and their interactions with the other standard cancer treatments such as radiation and chemotherapy.

Learning Objectives:

  1. To appreciate the effects of exercise as medicine to treat different oncological conditions.
  2. To deepen the understanding of the interaction of exercise with radiation and chemotherapy.

Presenter Bio:

Professor Robert Newton, Ph.D., AEPCSCS*D, FESSAFNSCAFACSM

Dr. Newton is a Professor of Exercise Medicine at Edith Cowan University, Perth, Western Australia. In 2020, he was appointed as a Vice-Chancellor Professorial Research Fellow in the Exercise Medicine Research Institute. In 2019 he was named the Western Australia Premier’s Scientist of the Year and in 2018, Professor Newton received the career achievement award from the Cancer Council Western Australia. Professor Newton has published over 800 scientific papers including 400 referred scientific journal articles, 450 conference abstracts and papers, three books, 16 book chapters and has a current Scopus h-Index of 75 with his work being cited over 19,000 times. As of 2020, Professor Newton has attracted over $38 Million in competitive research funding.
