Health Apps - What You Need to Know about Privacy and Security

Consumers and fitness professionals regularly use fitness-related health apps. While many of these apps provide important feedback to the client, coach and sometimes to health care professionals, users should be aware of the regulatory obligations related to data privacy and security.

Participants will be able to:

• Provide an overview of common regulatory requirements related to the use of health apps;
• Define the responsibility of the client and the fitness or health care professional for the use and disclosure of client data;
• Provide fitness and health care professionals with steps to comply with applicable law and limit liability; and
• Discuss steps to be taken in the event of a breach of client data.

This course includes an online video and a corresponding online quiz.

All course content will be presented to you electronically upon completion of your purchase. This includes the video files, quizzes and certificates (certificates awarded upon successful completion of the quiz).

Learners must complete this course within 365 days from the date of purchase.  ACSM will not offer refunds, transfers, or course credits for uncompleted courses prior to their expiration date.
