Development and implementation of Holistic Health and Fitness: The U.S. Army’s shift toward culture change and embracing the “Whole Soldier”
1 CEC
Presented by Brenda Bustillos and Kevin Bigelman
Description: In 2017, in an effort to address fitness and readiness issues, the U.S. Army developed the Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) System. The System provides education, coaching, mentoring, and outreach to improve, restore, and maintain resilience and performance of the total Army. The H2F System encompasses the “Whole Soldier” concept, which includes social intelligence, intellectual diversity and capacity, and quality-of-life. The scope of this evidence-based initiative involved many years of development and represents a once-in-a-generation shift in how the Army is, and will be, assessing Soldiers’ physical and non-physical capabilities.
