ACSM's 2020 International Health & Fitness Virtual Summit Video CEC: Fueling Women's Health at the Critical Stages of Life
By Jessica Crandall Snyder, RD, CDE, Registered Dietitian, Certified Diabetes Educator, National Media Spokesperson, Vital RD, Denver, CO
The nutritional needs of women are notably different from those of men. These differences become more profound at each of the critical decades: 20s/30s, 40s/50s and 60s/beyond. Each stage of the female lifespan provides unique challenges to optimal nutrition. This presentation will discuss how to overcome barriers to healthy nutrition and lifestyles. Special emphasis will be placed on societal and environmental challenges for this population, including work/family balance, proliferation of fad diets and impact of hormonal shifts on nutritional needs.
Learning Objectives
1. Identify unique challenges females have based off of age.
2. Expose common nutrient pitfalls that hinder performance.
3. Implement ways to address and improve nutrition gaps in a functional way, based off of these challenges.
