The purpose of the workshop is to document the problems and misconceptions from the static stretching research literature and illustrate why and how static stretching should still be incorporated into a proper warm-up procedure.

Learning Objectives

1. Highlight the misconceptions and problems in the stretching literature pertaining to static stretching

2. Expound on the mechanisms of static and dynamic stretching and their roles in providing a suitable warm-up prior to activity

3. Provide practical examples of stretching activities that should be incorporated not only into a warm-up but also into stretch training routines.
