Blood lactate concentrations have traditionally been utilized as an index of exercise intensity. However, more recent data suggests that plasma lactate can also be indicative of the risk for subsequent metabolic disease. This symposium will showcase the clinical implications of plasma lactate along with lactate’s role in regulating metabolism.
