President's Lecture | The Cutaneous Circulation...

1 CEC

Description: President's Lecture | The Cutaneous Circulation in Exercise, Health and Disease from ACSM's 2022 Annual Meeting & World Congresses

The human cutaneous circulation has a robust capacity to increase skin blood flow as part of the integrative cardiovascular response to exercise and environmental heat stress. The skin has utility as a model circulation for examining mechanisms modulating vascular function in health and disease and the impact of various lifestyle and pharmacological interventions targeting cardiovascular health. In this President’s Lecture novel mechanisms underlying microvascular dysfunction and intervention strategies targeting these signaling pathways will be presented.
