Dr. Mike will discuss why it is important to look beyond calories and RDAs when formulating diets for athletes. He will expand upon this concept by highlighting the importance of taking into account the role of different macronutrients along with the hormonal and signaling effects of various foods in the optimization of an athletes diets.
• Explain the basic concepts of energy balance and how it is calculated.
• Differentiate fad diets and their applicability to clients.
• Determine appropriate timing of protein distribution throughout the day.
• List practical diet building strategies for each individual client.
