Presented by:

In this webinar, we delve into the pivotal role of physical activity as a cornerstone of healthy longevity. We will unravel the dose response relationship into how various volumes and types of physical activity influence long term health. Through illuminating comparisons with other lifestyle behaviors, such as smoking, attendees will discern the benefits of physical activity for health and longevity. We will differentiate between morbidity and mortality risks vs how we quantify and interpret healthy longevity. Attendees will emerge equipped with actionable insights to integrate into their practices, promoting physical activity as a fundamental pillar of healthy longevity.

Presenter:

Amanda Paluch, Ph.D.

Department of Kinesiology
University of Massachusetts Amherst

Dr. Amanda Paluch is an epidemiologist whose research centers on understanding the relationship between physical activity and prevention of chronic disease, overall health and longevity. Her work delves into the nuances of physical activity, including its frequency, intensity, and type, and how these factors contribute to healthier living for longer periods.

Dr. Paluch is Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and the Institute for Applied Life Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from The Ohio State University and her Ph.D. in Exercise Science from the University of South Carolina. She completed her postdoctoral training in Cardiovascular Epidemiology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

Learning Objectives:
After participation, the attendee should:
1. Understand the dose-response association of physical activity with long-term health.
2. Learn how physical activity compares with other lifestyle behaviors (e.g., smoking) in terms of health benefits.
3. Understand the key differences between morbidity and mortality risk versus longevity, including how these are quantified and interpreted.
