Exercise is Medicine® On Campus Webinar: A National Analysis and Assessment of Impact

March 19, 2024 | 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. EDT

Presenters:
Steven Elmer, PhD
Isaac Lennox, MS
Isaac Wedig, PhD

Learning Objectives:
1. List the common characteristics of recognized EIM-OC programs.
2. Describe the distribution of EIM-OC programs across the United States.
3. Identify geographical areas for EIM-OC expansion.
4. Help enhance EIM-OC promotion and implementation through collaboration.

Presentation Description:
In this presentation the presenters will describe the distribution of Exercise is Medicine® on Campus (EIM-OC) programs in the United States and identify which potential factors best position programs to achieve gold-level status. Some factors considered include school population, presence of kinesiology-related degree, type of on-campus health care services, geographical location, and ACSM regional chapter. Our results indicate that 1) colleges and universities of all sizes can use EIM-OC to successfully promote physical activity on their campuses and 2) further promotion is needed to increase the number of participating EIM-OC campuses especially in select states, ACSM regional chapters, and rural areas. We hope this presentation will help inspire collaboration and mentoring among EIM-OC programs and guide future promotion and implementation.
