Description
The Professional Education Committee assumes the responsibility for the promotion of ACSM professional education efforts directed toward both members and non-members.
The Professional Education Committee screens applications for ACSM approved providership of meetings, symposia, clinics, workshops, and all other educational activities, to be certain that the content and quality of the proposed professional education efforts are consistent with the objectives and mission of the College.
The Professional Education Committee originates new professional education efforts and to ascertain their effectiveness. Those involving major capital outlays must be budgeted for
The Professional Education Committee evaluates via random audits ACSM Approved Providers to assure quality of programs. Feedback is then provided to the program administrator.
The Professional Education Committee make recommendations to the Executive Vice President, staff liaison, first-Vice President on matters pertaining to continuing education.
Eligibility
The Professional Education Committee shall consist of no less than five and not more than twenty-five individuals, of whom at least three must be Fellows. The appointments shall be made on the basis of expertise required by the duties of the Professional Education Committee.
The President shall appoint the Chairperson for a term of three years, and this person may be reappointed to one additional three-year term. The immediate past Chairperson will serve as an ex-officio, non-voting member for one year. The Chairperson normally will have had a minimum of one year's experience on the Committee.
The President shall appoint Committee members for a period of three years, and members may be reappointed to one additional three-year term. Appointments should be scheduled so that 2/3 of the members will have prior experience. New members are encouraged to attend the Annual Meeting session as non-voting guests and shall assume membership and voting privileges at the close of the Annual Meeting.
