Description
The Governance Board serves as the decision-making body for Exercise is Medicine® (EIM), providing oversight and strategic direction for program priorities, partnerships, structure and subcommittees. The board is responsible for ensuring that EIM activities align with EIM’s fundamentals, strategic plan and vision to make physical activity assessment and promotion a standard in clinical care, connecting health care with evidence-based physical activity resources for people everywhere and of all abilities.
The Governance Board also oversees the EIM Advisory Panel and EIM subcommittees that represent interest areas such as clinical practice, education, On Campus, EIM Credential, older adults, pediatrics, and underserved populations/community health.
Established in 2017, the Governance Board consists of a multi-disciplinary group of American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and EIM member leaders including a representative from the ACSM Administrative Council, the EIM founder, and representatives from clinical practice, research/science, fitness and international affairs. Members are appointed by the ACSM President and serve a three-year term.
The Governance Board meets monthly.
